Director of Plumbing School

The Opportunity

As UHP launches Ignite America Trade Schools—a modernized approach to skilled trades education—we are seeking a Director of Plumbing School to build and lead a cutting-edge plumbing education program from the ground up. Our vision is to create scalable, industry-aligned training environments that prepare highly capable professionals and leaders in the skilled trades.

The Director will serve as the founding leader for the plumbing program, responsible for curriculum design, instructor recruitment and development, immersive training experiences, workforce alignment, and operational excellence. This is not a traditional academic leadership role—we seek a builder, operator, educator, and leader who knows the technical side of plumbing and how to develop people.

This is a fully onsite leadership role based in Gentry, Arkansas.

What You’ll Do

Program Leadership & Development

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of the plumbing training program
  • Build scalable curriculum aligned with workforce and industry demands
  • Develop immersive, hands-on training experiences for residential, commercial, and industrial systems
  • Ensure alignment with plumbing codes, licensing, safety standards, and NCCER frameworks
  • Continuously improve program quality and student outcomes

Instruction & Training

  • Oversee classroom, lab, and field instruction
  • Ensure students gain practical, real-world plumbing experience
  • Integrate blueprint reading, water distribution, drainage, pipefitting, hydronics, troubleshooting, and safety into training
  • Establish modern learning environments utilizing simulation, technology, and hands-on applications

Instructor Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate plumbing instructors
  • Set instructional standards and classroom expectations
  • Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, professionalism, and student development
  • Support instructor technical growth and ongoing learning

Industry & Workforce Alignment

  • Build relationships with contractors, employers, and industry partners
  • Align training with workforce expectations and hiring needs
  • Develop apprenticeship, placement, and workforce pipeline opportunities
  • Position Ignite America as a leading plumbing workforce program

Operational Leadership

  • Support planning and development of plumbing labs and training environments
  • Assist with equipment procurement and program infrastructure
  • Maintain safety, compliance, and operational standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, operations, and program teams

What You’ll Bring

Required Experience

  • 7+ years in the plumbing industry
  • Experience in plumbing training, instruction, workforce development, or apprenticeship leadership
  • Strong understanding of residential and commercial plumbing systems
  • Familiarity with piping systems, code compliance, troubleshooting, and installation practices
  • Experience leading teams, instructors, or technical personnel
  • Strong operational and organizational leadership skills
  • Ability to build programs, systems, and processes from the ground up

Preferred Experience

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber License
  • NCCER experience or familiarity
  • Experience building or scaling technical training programs
  • Experience developing curriculum or instructional programs
  • Military or veteran community experience is a plus
