This role is primarily focused on shooting and requires someone who is comfortable working in active classroom, gym, outdoor, and lab environments. Some editing may be required, but it is not the primary function.
This position plays a critical role in documenting UHP’s veteran-only programs, instructors, and students—creating authentic, real-world footage used for marketing, admissions, curriculum assets, and internal storytelling.

- Live classroom instruction
- Hands-on training sessions (fitness, coaching, culinary, trades, etc.)
- Campus life, student activities, and instructor interactions
- Special events, guest speakers, and ceremonies
- Sit down, long-form interviews
- Work closely with instructors and staff to film without disrupting coursework
- Set up and operate cameras, audio, and basic lighting in dynamic environments
- Ensure footage meets internal quality standards for sharpness, framing, exposure, and audio clarity
- Maintain organized file structures and properly label footage for post-production
- Coordinate with the media and marketing team on shot lists, priorities, and schedules
- Adapt quickly to changing schedules, environments, and spontaneous moments worth capturing
- Follow campus guidelines and respect student privacy and consent protocols
- Proven experience as a video shooter, videographer, or camera operator
- Strong understanding of:
- Camera operation (Sony cinema line and Alpha series)
- Framing, composition, and movement
- Natural and mixed (imperfect) lighting environments
- Audio capture (lavs, shotgun mics, field recorders)
- Ability to work independently and take direction when needed
- Comfortable filming people in real, unscripted environments
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized with footage management
- Physically able to move around campus, stand for extended periods, and carry gear
- Basic understanding of editing workflows (Premiere Pro)
- Drone experience
- Experience filming education, training, fitness, or tactical environments
- Familiarity with storytelling for marketing or documentary-style content
- Experience working with veteran or mission-driven organizations
- Military veteran, spouse or family background
This position will require trips to Bentonville to drop footage and meet with the larger Media team at UHP, but the bulk of the time (4 days +) will be spent on our 800-acre campus in Gentry, AR (45 minutes outside Bentonville), filming students and staff.
- Mix of indoor classrooms, gyms, kitchens, workshops, and outdoor settings
- Fast-paced, real-world environment—this is not a studio role—you will be filming the action often while being part of it.
- Hours flex depending on the course module being recorded, with occasional start times as early as 6 a.m. and occasional wraps as late as 10 p.m.
Why This Role MattersThis position directly supports UHP’s mission to train and empower veterans through immersive, hands-on education. The footage captured here is not staged—it documents real transformation, real instruction, and real outcomes. If you care about meaningful work and telling authentic stories, this role matters.
