Summary of Job Duties:

Thanks to the transformational gifts from the Walton Charitable Support Foundation and Windgate Charitable Foundation the School of Art is growing exponentially. The growth contributes to a fast-paced environment, and we are searching for a candidate who works well with this pace and has the flexibility and agility to move from one project to the next.

The School of Art seeks a technician to manage and support technology, equipment, and facilities across its programs. This position will oversee an equipment checkout system, including launching and maintaining an online reservation platform, tracking inventory, conducting audits, and ensuring proper maintenance and functionality of all equipment and technology.

Key responsibilities include supervising and managing a team of undergraduate students, graduate assistants, and hourly employees working in the checkout center at the SDCR building. The technician will train and assist students in the safe and effective use of equipment, collaborate with Fulbright IT to ensure compliance with technology policies and best practices, and provide technical support for faculty course instruction and projects. Additionally, this role will contribute to the daily operations of the School of Art’s facilities, assist in budget planning for equipment maintenance and upgrades, and explore emerging tools and technologies to enhance creative practice.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in art, design or technology related field

  • Demonstrated knowledge in art and design related technology

  • Demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience training and assisting students in the safe and effective use of equipment and technology to support their creative practices.

  • Experience in organizing and managing equipment inventory, including the implementation of an equipment checkout system.

  • Experience managing budgets and employee work schedules

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse range of students, staff, faculty, and technicians


Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.


Salary Information:

$50,000 annually
