Summary of Job Duties:
The office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) offers a graduate assistantship on the Engagement Team to enhance the experience of international students and scholars and the community through programs that bring them together for meaningful cultural interactions. The Engagement Team is responsible for the International Culture Team (ICT), iFriend Program and International Education Week Promotion. The International Culture Team (ICT) brings the world to the campus and community through presentations, demonstrations and performances for children and adults. The iFriend Program introduces American families, singles, and students with international students for an informal friendship through social visits to exchange cultures. We also coordinate the campus-wide International Education Week. The Engagement GA’s primary job will be to provide leadership and support for these programs.Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have an earned bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education
- Must be admitted to a graduate school program at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville
- Must have authorization to be employed in the United States up to 20 hours per week
- Must have a flexible schedule and availability to work events in the evening and on weekends
- Must be available to schedule work hours to coincide with Outreach Coordinators hours which include mornings, afternoons and either Thursday and/or Friday afternoons & evenings
- Must have computer skills in a PC environment using Microsoft Office and Adobe software as evidenced by application materials
- Must possess intercultural communication skills to be able to work with students from a variety of different countries and cultural backgrounds as evidenced by application materials
- Must enjoy a fast-paced work environment as evidenced by application materials
- Passion for international education as evidenced by application materials
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching and training
- Ability to promote programs and events through social media and print media
- Experience organizing/coordinating programs
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience with Excel and Canva or applications helpful in program management
- Leadership experience
- Cross-cultural experience such as living or studying in a country other than your home country
