Summary of Job Duties:

The Power Plant Operator Skilled Trades Helper assists with Boiler Maintenance and Operations of steam line preventive maintenance and repair; maintaining UA distribution systems and production equipment for steam, condensate, power, chilled water, heating water, and compressed air. Inspect distribution systems regularly for deficiencies and report to management; perform repairs on system equipment: i.e. replace pump seals, replace condensate return systems, installation of valves, installation of pipe and fittings, installation of pumps, etc.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write

  • At least one year experience in chosen trade area

  • At least two years of experience in working with Boilers/Chillers or related field

  • Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Boiler Operator License

  • At least four years of experience as a Boiler Operator

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic measuring tools, equipment, and materials used in the various skilled trades

  • Skill in the use, operation, and care of tools and machinery

  • Ability to perform manual labor under various working conditions

  • Ability to use hand and power tools in various working conditions

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in various environments


Additional Information:

Must be able to obtain a High-pressure boiler license within 6 months of hire


Salary Information:

$39,930.00 - $43,923.00 commensurate with education and experience
