Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Next Generation Programs for the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative (IFAI) is a member of the School of Law team. The Director will supervise IFAI’s professional Next Gen team as well as a cohort of undergraduate student interns, providing supervision, leadership, and mentorship. The Director is responsible for working with IFAI staff as well as campus collaborators and national and regional partners to develop and improve educational opportunities, programming, and outreach on campus, and provide key supervision for IFAI’s Youth Programs Coordinator in delivering IFAI’s annual Native Youth in Food & Agriculture Leadership Summit. This position will also serve as the team lead for the IFAI Next Gen team, and in this capacity the Director will frequently represent IFAI at external collaborator meetings, events, and conferences across the country. This position reports to and is evaluated by the IFAI Senior Managing Attorney. This position involves frequent travel long distances by air or vehicle on behalf of IFAI for various events. While position may be remote, regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education
At least three years of supervisory experience, especially of recent graduates or student interns
At least three years of experience working solely or primarily with Native American students in higher education
At least three years experience interfacing or working with American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian governments
Previous experience with formal research and/or grant reporting
Preferred Qualifications:
At least five years of experience working solely or primarily with Native American students in higher education
At least three years of progressive experience in public speaking
Previous experience with event planning and coordination
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Working knowledge of MS office applications including word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
Good interpersonal and public speaking skills and the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with youth, their parents and family, the public in the IFAI team
Patience and flexibility while working in a dynamic environment
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking skills to find solutions to issues facing native youth
Ability to speak effectively one on one in small groups or in large groups across a variety of formats including in person settings and virtual presentations
Ability to complete University training on the use of golf carts on campus
Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
