Summary of Job Duties:

The Graphic Design Student Assistant (GDSA) will be responsible for the design of event marketing hosted by the CACE Office, logo and flyer assistance for RSO’s and other miscellaneous design requests from organizations on campus as needed. The GDSA will report directly to the Administrative Specialist II in the CACE and the Coordinator of Campus and Community Engagement.


Qualifications:

Education & Work Experience: Minimum qualifications include: must be a UAFS in a major field of study such as Graphic Design or similar major, with a knowledge of complex graphic design applications and functions such as vectorization and formatting with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Canva.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

  • Excellent customer service skills including proper telephone etiquette and pleasant phone voice
  • Knowledge of CACE events, procedures, and policies
  • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Public speaking

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design general marketing for the CACE Office and Student Affairs as needed (i.e. flyers, logos, TV screens, digital design, social media, etc.). Assist with designing new and editing existing documents (i.e. RSO Handbook, CACE brochures, etc.)
  • Review and respond to forms from RSO’s, organizations and departments on campus who request assistance with a new or existing logo or marketing campaign
  • Assist with RSO key check-outs, supply and table reservations in the Campus Center. Assist RSOs with approval of flyers, making copies, restocking copy paper in the CACE and computer lab, checking and distributing office mail and maintaining a clean SAO Workroom area.
  • Complete required office hours shared by all student workers at the front desk each week. Hang flyers in your assigned building for CACE Events
  • Greet guests, answer phones, and cover Switchboard when needed.
  • Create a design campaign in collaboration with marketing for annual CACE Office events such as Welcome and Spring Back Week, Block Party, Homecoming and Numa’s Award Ceremony. Lead special projects on occasion.

Working Relationships: Works with CACE and Student Affairs staff, staff in other offices across campus, students, and visitors.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. The GDSA will be required to work a set block of time each day and may include some evenings. The GDSA may also be asked to perform tasks which may require occasional lifting of no more than 20 pounds.


Salary Information:

$11.00/hour
