Summary of Job Duties:

The Bumpers College Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor and executive assistant to the Dean. The Chief of Staff helps execute the Dean’s vision and advances Bumpers College mission through effective leadership, planning, and operational excellence. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Responsibilities and expectations may extend beyond standard working hours and travel may be required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of administrative, professional, or business management support experience

  • Experience preparing professional written communications


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Communications or other relevant focus area from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience in a leadership or strategic role within higher education or a related field

  • Experience with executive scheduling, including travel

  • Experience with event planning

  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff

  • Strong understanding of the higher education landscape, challenges, and opportunities

  • Experience in building and fostering interpersonal relationships


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge in change management and workflow transitions

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills required to excel in a highly visible public-facing position

  • Highly adaptable and skilled in reprioritizing tasks to meet evolving challenges and ensure optimal productivity

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software and systems

  • Adaptability in modifying procedures, forms, and processes to align with new policy, software systems, etc.

  • Ability to lead, plan and organize effectively

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others to advance Bumpers College

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

  • Ability to learn relevant UA policy and ensure adherence to policy
