Summary of Job Duties:
Responsible for all aspects of moving and special events on campus to include: set-up/tear-down for special events, furniture and office moves, surplus inventory storage and removal, and performing general labor tasks as assigned. May also be called on occasion to help with other departments within Plant Operations. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Plant Operations.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience:
One year experience performing general labor tasks
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
Event set-up and/or experience moving furniture preferred
Forklift experience/certification a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
- Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to operate a truck, buggy, and forklift.
- Ability to perform manual labor under varying working conditions.
- Ability to maneuver from building-to-building multiple times per day.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to occasionally work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Ability to perform and maintain multiple tasks.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set-up and/or clear rooms for special events to include: tables, chairs, podiums, technical equipment, fencing, tents, pianos, and any other requested items; Set-up gym/arena for concerts and other special events requiring athletic equipment. Checks with customers to ensure needs are met.
- Execute small scale campus moves, such as office moves and replacement of furniture, as requested. Work with customers to clarify and meet expectations and ensure work is performed in a timely fashion.
- Evaluates, moves, packages, and prepares surplus material for disposal through State Marketing and Redistribution or disposal, as appropriate by the State disposal procedures, whether on-site auction, transport to State Marketing and Redistribution in Little Rock, or through recycling or solid waste disposal streams
- Assists other areas within Plant Operations
- Other duties as assigned

- Liaison with Campus stakeholders and Plant Operations, as daily duties are conducted
- Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork

Working Relationships:
This position has frequent contact with supervisors, peers, staff, faculty, and outside contractors. This position works closely with the Shipping/Receiving, Transportation, Campus and Community Engagement, Maintenance, Technology, and AV departments. Must keep appearance neat and clean, be polite, and offer a positive image while setting up events.

Special Job Dimensions:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a frequent basis, and able to bend, stoop, and stand during shifts of eight hours or more. Must be able to lift 75± pounds on a moderate basis. Must use good judgement, extreme caution, and drive in a safe manner at all times when operating buggies or vehicles, especially around pedestrians. Occasional exposure to inclement weather will be required. Occasional overtime will be required.
