Summary of Job Duties:

This posting is for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor within the College of Engineering in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

The encumbent's responsibilities include teaching, research, and service. The Professor of Industrial Engineering will conduct externally funded research leading to scholarly publication, design graduate and undergraduate courses, provide curriculum material, construct syllabi, lead classroom instruction, write and administer exams, prepare and evaluate students, mentor students, serve on various faculty and student-oriented committees, exhibit participation and leadership in related professional societies and participate in the faculty decision-making for the Department of Industrial Engineering.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in engineering or statistics from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment

  • Must have a current rank of Professor or credentials warranting appointment at the full professor level

  • Must present an exceptional track record in scholarship and external funding

  • Must be able to provide evidence of scholarly productivity through publication and service

  • Must be a nationally prominent scholar with extraordinary accomplishments in operations research and analytics as evidenced through scholarly contributions and funded research endeavors

  • Outstanding teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels

  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills with students and stakeholders of the U of A

  • At least five years, prior to hire, of previous experience outside the U of A


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in the field of industrial engineering, computer engineering, computer science, data science, analytics or related discipline in an accredited, higher education environment

  • Leads an active, externally funded research program in an area of expertise that builds upon existing research capacity of the department

  • Strong national reputation and demonstrated leadership in their field of expertise

  • Fellow standing in at least one professional society
