Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas is searching for an experienced UX/UI professional to join a dynamic and dedicated team of communications, marketing and public relations specialists within University Relations, focused on advancing the university’s land-grant mission.

The UX/UI Designer is a member of an experienced Digital Strategy team and part of the larger Integrated Communications Team which is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating communications and outreach campaigns and projects which advance the strategic goals and objectives of the University of Arkansas.

The UX/UI Designer is responsible for developing web page code for desktop and mobile platforms based on submitted content, enhancing the university’s primary web domain while adhering to university branding. This role will also research current technologies and stay up to date with best practices for presenting web-based tools and information to the various platforms and audiences we support across the campus community through digital communications including creating, maintaining and enhancing the university’s primary web design through regular design updates to improve the web domain and other duties as assigned.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to communicate effectively, create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or information technologies or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • At least 5 years of experience developing websites

  • Experience working in the following technologies: HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, JavaScript, and Photoshop

  • Fluency with WCAG 2.x AA

  • Web Design experience

  • Experience identifying hardware/software interface problems

  • Experience with interactive debugging and testing and analyzing failures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency with PHP

  • Fluency with XML/XSLT

  • UX/UI certification

  • Content Management experience

  • Working knowledge of SEO

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of technical and vendor documentation and ability to maintain internal documentation

  • Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements

  • Knowledge of distributed processing and client/server technologies

  • General knowledge of network connectivity, integration, configuration, and protocols as it pertains to web

  • Knowledge of client/server, database, and web-based technologies

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize.

  • Ability to be on time and dependable.

  • Ability to deliver and receive critique and feedback positively

Salary Information:

$50,000-$56,000, commensurate with education and experience
