Summary of Job Duties:

The Sr. Admissions Advisor for Diversity Outreach represents the University of Arkansas Fort Smith at college fairs, high schools, and other diversity-related recruitment events and advises prospective students and their parents regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, residence halls, student organizations and activities. Using professional judgment and established University admission policy, the Sr. Admissions Advisor for Diversity Outreach performs individual review of application documents of applicants in their territory to make an admission recommendation. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions and is a vital member of the Admissions department.


Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the achievement of university enrollment and recruitment goals and objectives by representing the University of Arkansas Fort Smith at college fairs, high schools, and other recruitment visits and advises prospective students and their parents regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, residence halls, student organizations and activities. Using professional judgment and established University admission policy, the Sr. Admissions Advisor for Diversity Outreach performs individual review of application documents of applicants in their territory to make an admission recommendation.
  • Collaborate with Admissions Department leadership on the development and implementation of recruitment and communication strategies for underrepresented and out-of-state students that integrate with the overall recruitment plan for the University, operating within budget limits, complete tasks and assignments for strategic initiatives, and provide timely and relevant reports regarding measurable outcomes and goals.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and communication strategies designed to increase the number of students enrolling from an assigned territory, plan and implement successful high school visits, analyze the recruitment plan for the assigned territory, and exercise fiscal responsibility in using budget resources related to travel expenses.
  • Plan and implement successful on-campus diversity-related events and regular Spanish-speaking tours.
  • Engage with internal and external diversity-related organizations and government agencies that support the University's diversity strategy and assist in the development of internal networks and in providing effective means of communicating diversity initiatives throughout the University.
  • Develop project timelines and utilize customer relationship management (CRM) software to track outcomes of assigned programs of interest and events, provide reports based on established targets for the assigned recruitment territory and key programs of interest, and analyze institutional recruitment data as well as data from testing services to target recruitment efforts for successful enrollment outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in the Spanish language.

  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required Admissions department leadership.

Education & Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree or enrollment in a program is preferred. Must be able to communicate fluently in the Spanish language.

Experience working in a diverse environment and/or with students from diverse backgrounds is required. Experience with University of Arkansas Fort Smith academic programs, facilities, student activities and organizations or at least two years of work experience in college admissions and recruitment at a regionally accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • A fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals representing diverse backgrounds is required.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Familiarity with the key processes in recruitment individuals representing diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information and reports.
  • Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate various computer programs and CRMs. Slate.
  • High level of cross-cultural communication with employees, students, and the general public, maintaining confidentiality in daily operations, and to conduct daily duties in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and develop action plans.
  • ·Ability to handle multiple projects and duties as assigned; and to adapt to changes in work environment, manage completing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.


Additional Information:

Working Relationships: Position requires regular contact with prospective and current students, institution personnel, and the public. The office currently has an organizational structure consisting of experienced staff with permanent employees and a qualified team of external collaborators and staff members.
