Summary of Job Duties:
The Mentoring Program Coordinator will support the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and advise student leaders in the Volunteer Action Center. The Coordinator will be responsible for cultivating student development and leadership roles in all program areas and will specifically advise mentoring programs. This position will support the creation of volunteer and student leadership opportunities and will create and manage community partnerships to facilitate ongoing programming. The Coordinator will ensure high-quality program delivery and will enforce safety guidelines in accordance with university policy, partner location policy, and youth-protection practices. The Coordinator will also support the CCE as a whole and contribute to departmental initiatives and goals. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
The position requires limited evening/weekend hours. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Experience in volunteer or service programming
Experience with program or organizational development
Experience with youth programming and/or college student programming
Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education, higher education, public administration, social work, or related fields from an accredited institution of higher education
Experience supervising, advising, and mentoring college students
Experience planning and assessing student programming
Experience managing budgets and writing grants
Experience with middle school mentoring or curriculum development
Proficiency in other languages, especially Spanish
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of campus and community resources and ability to partner with multiple constituents on campus and within the local and state communities.
High organizational skills to multi-task and complete very detailed tasks.
Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs, advise multiple programs and manage the details of each.
Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations.
Ability to compile information into report form and assess the student experiences to support student success and belonging.
Ability to collaborate and partner with various campus departments and programs in creating a student-centered experience.
Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
