Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant for the Data Analytics Team will report to the Division of Student Affairs Director of Analysis & Reporting. This role focuses on leveraging student information and department-collected data to analyze the impact of program initiatives on student success.

Key responsibilities include data collection and integration from various sources, developing and administering assessment tools, conducting descriptive and inferential analyses, and collaborating with divisional units. The position involves working with various software programs such as PowerBI, Python, SAS, SPSS, Power Automate, Excel, and Qualtrics. However, candidates need not be proficient in all these tools from day 1. We value the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. If you can demonstrate a history of quickly acquiring new skills, we encourage you to apply.

A crucial aspect of this role is maintaining a learning mindset. We seek candidates who are eager to explore new methods and technologies to enhance our analytics delivery and support student success initiatives across campus. The ideal candidate will excel in both technical data analysis and interpersonal communication, able to engage staff in assessment processes and effectively convey insights to various stakeholders.

We welcome fresh perspectives and ideas. A significant part of this role involves identifying better ways of doing things, considering the overall goals of the division and team. The ability to implement positive change and improve processes is highly valued. Candidates should be prepared to continuously improve processes and suggest innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Demonstrate experience with data analysis software or similar to the listed (e.g., SAS, SPSS, SQL, R, Python, PowerBI, Excel)

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Master's Degree in College Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Economic Analytics, Statistics, or related field

  • At least one to two years of professional assessment and/or research experience

  • Experience in synthesizing and interpreting complex data and reporting findings to various stakeholders

  • Track record of process improvement or innovative problem-solving in data analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge in data handling and storage practices, including cleaning, integrating, and interpreting complex/sensitive data

  • Knowledge of basic statistical techniques (descriptive, correlational, and inferential)

  • Knowledge with research methodology and the assessment cycle

  • Highly detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, and creative thinker

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

  • Ability to suggest and implement process improvements

  • Ability to produce detailed documentation

  • Ability to interpret and communicate statistical processes and findings to diverse audiences with varying levels of data literacy
