Summary of Job Duties:

Peer Academic Coaches in the Student Success Center support student learning by helping students with their academic and personal transition to the university environment. Coaches attend a first-year experience "student success" course (UNIV 10051) working collaboratively with the instructor and meeting individually with students outside class. Additionally, Peer Academic Coaches play a key role in Student Success Center outreach efforts through presentations, tabling, special events, and various other initiatives related to student academic success. This position requires excellent communication skills and the desire to help students succeed.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled student with completion of twenty-four credit hours at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville prior to job start OR currently enrolled graduate student

  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.25

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • At least one semester of experience supporting students (mentor, tutor, coach, SI leader, etc.)

  • Junior standing or above

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheets, video conferencing and email systems

  • Skilled in interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Skilled in conducting online and in-person meetings

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision

  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and troubleshoot appointment issues when necessary

  • Ability to demonstrate a positive work ethic and model successful student behavior

Graduate students are subject to background checks


Salary Information:

$13.00 per hour for undergraduate academic coaches
$17.00 per hour for graduate academic coaches
