Summary of Job Duties:
The Coordinator of Student Recruitment and Scholarships for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design primary responsibility is to educate prospective students and families about the opportunities at the University of Arkansas (UA), specifically within the Fay Jones School. This position is the initial contact for students interested in pursuing one of the undergraduate majors in the Fay Jones School. This position also coordinates and oversees the scholarship application and process for current and incoming students. This position could eventually assume some advising responsibilities for a select number of students.This position will require up to 10% travel within the state of Arkansas. Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on department needs.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
At least one year of customer service experience (which could include educational or sales experience)
Demonstrated experience speaking to large groups, to include parents and students
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
At least one year of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting
At least one year of experience as an admissions counselor, student ambassador, or orientation leader, or similar experience
Prior exposure to design education is strongly preferred
Experience in academic, college, or high school teaching, or related higher education experience working directly with students
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues
Knowledge of university and admissions office procedures and policies Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate attention to detail, meet deadlines, and think creatively
Organizing and coordinating skills
Program planning and implementation skills
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
Ability to develop and deliver presentations
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to administrative support staff and/or students
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including the ability to present to a large audience
