Summary of Job Duties:
The Department Administrative Manager position will report directly to the department head and requires independent judgment and decision making related to a variety of departmental functions. This is a complex and highly responsible position involving administrative support of departmental functions. The position is responsible for assuring that the department meets deadlines, complies with all prevailing policies and procedures and functions in a highly effective and efficient manner. The primary responsibilities include: 1) Establish and maintain operating procedures for the departmental administrative office. 2) Maintain knowledge of the UA Board of Trustees, College and Division of Agriculture policies, rules and procedures. 3) Promote and facilitate teamwork within the departmental staff; maintain high standards for staff performance. 4) Coordinate all departmental reporting including Faculty Service Reviews, the annual report, and REEport projects. 5) Maintain department head office: Calendar, meetings, telephone, communication, etc. 6) Organize and/or complete special projects as directed by the department head. 7) Manage/Perform personnel procedures (advertising, appointments, terminations, etc.) in accordance with all prevailing policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree with a strong background in business or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Workday (specifically HCM, compensation, time and leave tasks), E-verify, SharePoint, 25Live, Next catalog (curriculum management program) and Graduate Student requirements at U of A including yearly reporting to NSF/NIH Survey of Graduate Students and Post-doctorates in Science and Engineering, and Agriculture.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-Superior computer and software skills, strong managerial, communication and organizational skills are required.
-Ability to exercise initiative, make sound judgments, be discreet, and assume responsibilities.
-Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work and ability to speak and write clearly and communicate effectively.
-Ability to multi-task and handle disruptions well while working with little supervision.
