Summary of Job Duties:
This position will serve as a Career Coach in Walton Career Connections providing career path management guidance to students and supporting career programming efforts of the office. The job duties include but are not limited to assisting current undergraduate and graduate business students with job search strategy; the use of current technology related to job searching and labor market trends in business and industry including but not limited to Handshake, VMock, LinkedIn, and various virtual event platforms, building a personal brand, resume revision, interview preparation, and offer evaluation and negotiation. This position supports Walton career programming by delivering sessions and workshops that will help undergraduate and graduate students develop career readiness. Works in collaboration with internal and external Walton College stakeholders, to support Walton Career activities such as Career Fairs, special workshops/events, and classroom presentations through content creation, marketing, and delivery. Support postgraduate data collection activities. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
At least one year of experience working with students, particularly in an advisory capacity OR At least one year of experience working in the corporate environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, to listen actively, to adapt to changing situations, and to coach and motivate others
Must be able to provide in-person support of programming/events during office hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and occasional evenings and weekends, less than 10 evenings or weekends a semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education OR Bachelor's degree in a business concentration from an accredited university
At least two years of experience working with students, particularly in an advisory capacity
At least two years of experience working in the corporate environment
Experience with US and International Business Environment (as evidenced through a business degree, business minor, or work experience in the corporate world)
