Summary of Job Duties:
The General Manager/Director will lead KUAF 91.3FM, the Public Radio Station at the University of Arkansas housed within the School of Journalism and Strategic Media. This position will provide overall management, leadership, and planning, and will supervise fundraising, content development and delivery, and technical system development for KUAF.The position will have responsibilities in the following areas:
• Leadership and Administration: Providing leadership to achieve KUAF's mission and strategic goals; keeping up changes and innovations in public media sphere, particularly digital media; raising the profile of the station across the region and the industry
• Development and Growth: Expanding listenership, membership and sustaining membership; cultivating major donors, community and local foundation support; cultivating and strengthening underwriter relationships and support
• Human Resources: Overseeing employee recruitment, selection, performance management, and individual and team development; working with University and College HR departments to create and post job positions; developing KUAF’s organizational chart to achieve station’s strategic goals
• Financial Management: Developing and administering station budgets and financial performance including bookkeeping and audit; administering and reporting to funders as appropriate; will be responsible for the production of KUAF’s Annual Financial Report & Audit using Corporation for Public Broadcasting guidelines
• Programming: Leading programming staff to ensure on-air content is compelling, differentiated, and engaging for our target audience; working with KUAF News Director to ensure station’s reporting is accurate, impactful, and meets journalism’s ethical standards; will produce and analyze Nielsen Reports twice a year, and station promotion
• Technology and Media: Managing acquisition, implementation, maintenance and replacement of station technologies, including new media

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
College degree in journalism, communications, business or related field
Experience with managing public radio, commercial radio and/or audio creative production for media entity
Experience managing a media team in a top 100 market
Experience overseeing budget and administration of a media staff
Experience in fundraising and community relations
Demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of QuickBooks and related financial audit and financial report tools.
Experience expanding audience engagement for a radio station or similar media platform.
Experience working with public media entities such as NPR, CPB, etc.
Strong public relations/speaking skills
Demonstrated ability to evaluate community needs and develop station services and programs to meet those needs.
Experience in marketing and live events.
Experience in innovative program development.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of public broadcasting industry issues, trends, rules, and FCC/CPB regulations
Direct knowledge and fundraising background including major gifts and grants
Knowledge of audio network systems, radio automation software, recording technology and equipment
Knowledge of supervisory practices and issues
Skill in word processing, spreadsheets, traffic and fundraising software systems, accounting software, presentation software, etc.
Excellent interpersonal skills reflected in an ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present an accessible, professional and personable image
Strong public presentation skills necessary to represent KUAF successfully to the community, grantors, regulatory agencies, and other collaborators
Ability to demonstrate a high level of energy and obvious enthusiasm and passion for the work of KUAF
Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities including ability to prioritize tasks and practice effective time management
Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long and short-range development initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes
Demonstrated ability to evaluate community needs and to develop stations services to meet these needs
Fundraising ability, including grant writing, donor/member program management, and/or event coordination
Ability to promote and foster collegiality; initiate and/or support change, creativity, and innovation processes
Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
