Summary of Job Duties:

This position works with the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards to advise students on competitive fellowships applications, help plan events, manage social media accounts, and perform other administrative tasks for the office.

Key duties for this position include:
Advising students on competitive awards, such as the Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship

- Proofreading application materials
- Assisting in the planning and execution of the office’s end-of-the-year awards ceremony
- Assisting in the collection, sorting, and donation of books for elementary schools through the Arkansas Reads program
- Presenting on the office and various awards opportunities
- Drafting messages for the office’s listserv and news releases publicizing award recipients
- Assisting with the Advanced Placement Summer Institute that occurs during July
- Maintaining a consistent social media presence for the office, including announcing upcoming meetings, creating reminders of deadlines, and celebrating applicants
- Other duties as assigned

Assistantship package:
This is a 12-month, 0.50 assistantship with a stipend of $1,459 a month. A tuition waiver for graduate courses is included (student must pay applicable University fees). The package also includes the option of purchasing health insurance through the Graduate School.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Organizational skills

  • Excellent writing abilities in multiple formats (including news releases, social media content, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

  • Must provide proof of acceptance and be enrolled into a UAF graduate program through the Graduate School

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite

$17,508/year, $1459/month
