Summary of Job Duties:
The Vice Chancellor represents the Chancellor and UAMS in Northwest Arkansas and will facilitate and coordinate academic, graduate medical education (GME), clinical and research activities in Northwest Arkansas. The duties of the Vice Chancellor will contribute to the efforts that further the mission of UAMS: To improve the health and health care of Arkansans.

- Bachelor’s Degree in related field with at fifteen (15) years of related experience OR a Master’s degree plus thirteen (13) years of related experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership, Community Outreach and External Relationships
- Provide vision and leadership in current and future UAMS endeavors in the NWA Region.
- Oversee projects as directed by the Chancellor, including UAMS strategic plan initiatives.
- Work closely with the Northwest Arkansas Council in the facilitation of economic development and regional health care collaborations.
- Lead and work collaboratively with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement to manage UAMS NWA Advisory Board, as well as additional external advisors, community volunteers, task forces, and campaign committees convened to advance the work of UAMS in the region.
- Work with Vice Chancellor of Institutional Relations to cultivate relationships with state and local elected and appointed leaders.
- Liaise with all UAMS colleges and their institutes, departments, and affiliated community and NWA regional organizations and agencies.
- Coordinate and promote programming and co-sponsorships, new joint outreach programs, and serve on internal and external committees as appropriate.
- Promote and facilitate collaborations among local hospitals, community organizations, and other stakeholders in the NWA Region.
Campus Administration and Operations
- Provide oversight of campus operations, including but not limited to administrative services, facilities management, campus safety and security, and technology infrastructure.
- Develop and implement annual operating budget for the NW Campus division; prepare budgetary recommendations and prioritize capital requests for the region.
- Work collaboratively with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement to seek capital, operating and endowment funding for educational and research programs through various agencies, institutions, friends, and benefactors of UAMS, develop strategies for gift solicitations, and identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from prospective donors.
- Advise the board, executive, and financial committees of UAMS regarding current and future resource requirements of the NWA Region and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to confirm and enhance the mission through effective long and short-term planning.
- Supervise the recruitment and retention of talented faculty leaders and staff as well as cultivate and promote future academic leaders.
- Provide administrative oversight of human resource functions.
Education, Research and Clinical Programs
- Direct educational activities for the NWA Region in collaboration with the UAMS NW Campus associate provost and UAMS deans, including faculty-initiated programming, staff-initiated programming and student-initiated programming.
- Oversee the management and growth of GME programs.
- Lead the development, management and growth of UAMS clinical programs in the NWA region.
- Provide administrative support for education and research efforts in the community.
- Lead in seeking research opportunities and collaborations with other academic centers in and outside the state for the NWA Region.
- Promote and encourage collaborations with the University of Arkansas Fayetteville.
- Other duties as assigned.
