Summary of Job Duties:

The Bus Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a large passenger motor vehicle and transporting passengers to specific destinations within the general area. This position is responsible for performing prescribed pre/post-operational safety maintenance checks; accumulating and recording statistics for daily reports on fixed route service; and must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. This position could be subject to shift rotation resulting in shift differential.

Regular, non-disruptive, and reliable attendance is an essential job duty, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

  • At least two years of driving experience

  • DOT medical examiners certificate or the ability to obtain prior to first day employment and be able to maintain certification

  • Valid driver's license

Razorback Transit provides paid CDL training to obtain the required Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for this position. Cost of testing materials are reimbursed upon the successful completion of the written and skills test for the CDL license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CDL Class B or higher with Passenger Endorsement

  • Experience operating a large 35 and 40 foot transit vehicle on city streets in fixed route service


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of DOT/CDL regulations

  • Ability to show excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to work with and learn technology

  • Ability to be successful in a diverse working environment


Additional Information:

The base work schedule for this position will be Tuesday - Saturday. Saturday is a mandatory work day. Overtime work/pay is available and/or required.
