Summary of Job Duties:

The Safe Ride Supervisor is responsible for providing department-level management and leadership for Safe Ride and supporting role to Razorback Transit, and to fully support the goals and objectives of Razorback Transit. This is accomplished by supervising staff, performing administrative tasks, developing and managing programs, policies, and procedures, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations pertaining to public transit. Other duties include participating in department training opportunities and programs, completing special projects, and acting as a resource base to other departments, and outside agencies.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education of a high school diploma

  • At least one year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field

  • At least four years of experience in administrative support

  • At least one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity

Required license(s)/certification(s):

  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or higher within 6 months of start date


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years experience of increasing responsibility in personnel management

  • Experience in Student transport or Demand response service management

  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or higher


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of transit operations

  • General knowledge management process

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Local, and specific transit statutes, regulations and requirements

  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for preparing transportation summary, reports, and transportation-related documents

  • Knowledge of principles of staffing development, recruitment, selection, and placement

  • Basic understanding/knowledge of transit technology systems

  • Knowledge of principles of people management and development

  • Advanced word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software skills

  • Ability to learn and implement organizational policies and processes

  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of industry trends and legislation and ensures the Authority’s compliance

  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise work and staff engaged in the assigned functional areas

  • Ability to professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions

  • Ability to provide leadership, inspires and motivates others to perform well and accept feedback from others

  • Ability to make self-available to staff; provides regular performance feedback, and develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth

  • Ability to analyze and resolve a variety of complex organizational, staffing, space needs and other issues

  • Ability to display a willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions

  • Ability to gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate facts evidence, data and other information in order to draw reasonable and fair conclusions and make sound decisions

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

  • Ability to learn department operating policies, procedures, systems, methods, and tasks
