Summary of Job Duties:

The Information Security Analyst, SIEM Specialist is responsible for monitoring and protecting the University of Arkansas through the University's SIEM system. The position is responsible updating and optimizing the inputs data and security alerts in the SIEM. The SIEM specialist is also responsible for threat hunting activities designed to find malware and bad actors that are not apparent in system logs or the SIEM. The position is also responsible for analyzing and assessing damage to the infrastructure as a result of security incidents, examines available tools and processes for remediation, and providing evidence for reporting.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology with at least 2 years Security

  • At least 3 years of experience in privacy, information risk, compliance, or related discipline in the information security field

  • At least 2 years of experience working with a (SIEM) Security Incident and Event Management System

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field to Information Technology from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least one industry certification (e.g., CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, ISAAP) highly desired

  • At least two years of experience SQL and SQL queries

  • At least two years of experience Azure configuration or security

  • Experience with Web development, scripting, or programing languages

  • Experience with Microsoft on Prim and cloud security

  • Well versed in and experienced with event and security log analysis

  • Experience with Network Management and advanced network technologies

  • Information security experience in state/local government

  • Experience with managing and configuring software and hardware firewalls

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft DLP

  • Ethical hacking experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of information security threat hunting

  • Skills in documenting and reporting security events

  • Knowledge of Information Security Risk assessment and management

  • Strong working knowledge of SIEM, NAC, firewall, IDS/IPS technologies, and application layer security controls

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • Demonstrate the ability to devise innovative security solutions/strategies to address unique requirements/situations

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other higher education institutions, law enforcement, vendors, and internal staff

  • Ability to maintain security documentation and manuals


Additional Information:


Salary Information:

$85,000 - $105,000 commensurate with education and experience.
