Summary of Job Duties:
This position has complete responsibility for Arkansas Union Event Services, including set up of all conference meetings and private functions, inventory control of supplies pertinent to Arkansas Union Event Services, billing and management of the Event Services budget, maintenance of all event and audio-visual related equipment, rooms, and supplies. Also responsible for supervising the Event Services Manager, Assistant Director, multimedia staff as well as Arkansas Union Event Reps and Setup crew, including evening workers. Sets, revises, and implements policies and procedures. Represents the Arkansas Union with special projects, serves as a member of the Union leadership team, and fills in when Director is absent.Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in hospitality management, business administration, communications, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
At least four years of progressively more responsible experience in student program operations, facility event operations, or related area
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
At least one year in a supervisory capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's or master's degree with a major in student affairs, hospitality, business, or related area from an accredited institution of higher education
Proven experience with facility event management software, such as EMS
At least three years of supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of university and college union policies and procedures for operations
Knowledge of human resources and supervisory management
Knowledge of general accounting and budgetary procedures
Knowledge of program planning and financial management
Knowledge of emergency response procedures
Variable skills including communication, interpersonal relationship building, and adaptability
Ability to supervise a varied subordinate personnel staff with multiple functions
Ability to coordinate the work activities of several operations at the same time
Ability to maintain and prepare financial records and other reports
Ability to plan and project future needs regarding the Arkansas Union operations
Ability to work with a variety of clients, both internal and external to the university
