Summary of Job Duties:

The HR Director for Workforce Planning, HR Partners and Employee Relations will lead a large team of HR professionals to support and enable university strategy across all units of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, on and off campus, so regular visibility with the team and unit partners is essential, which may include occasional travel. The HR Director will lead by example with integrity and compassion to foster a sense of belonging and an environment where employees are empowered to innovate, share ideas, make a difference, and continuously improve procedures, practices and processes.

The HR Director is responsible for building the functions and capabilities for workforce planning and resource allocation as part of the HR transformation. They will help build and scale the HR partner operating model, including building self-service, call center, employee relations, and strategic HR partner support with recruiting and retention tactics. They will make data-driven decisions that keep the function moving forward.

The HR Director will ensure a consistent, efficient, and compliant environment exists and support their team to develop, grow, advance, remain engaged and motivated to accomplish the U of A's strategic initiatives, ensuring the University continues to excel in research, student success and as an employer of choice. The HR Director will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor - Human Resources, Chief People Officer.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience in human resources or related field

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the qualifications listed above

  • Ten years leading large teams or large-scale strategic transformational projects

  • Eight years of progressive experience leading human resource functions involving workforce planning, resource allocation, strategic HR business partner support, employee relations, talent acquisition, employee services, shared services, and/or related fields

  • Five years of strategic planning, working in matrixed environments, establishing and implementing strategies, and measuring results

  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance

  • The willingness and ability to perform other duties that may be assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Executive certification or advanced degree in Human Resources or a related field

  • SHRM or HRCI Certification

  • HR experience in higher education or a public agency

  • Experience using Workday for HCM, travel & expense and finance-related business processes

  • Experience managing a P&L

  • Prior experience building, transforming, or leading an HRBP and Center of Excellence HR operating model, centralized, de-centralized and matrixed

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products using Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools managing a P&L

  • Experiencing building and scaling HR service delivery model

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products using Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools

  • Ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies and measure progress

  • Ability to use, analyze and create visual outputs of data to influence outcomes that align with university strategy
