Summary of Job Duties:

The Department Fiscal Manager will maintain proactive relationships with department personnel and communicate financial information and purchasing policy effectively; oversee purchasing in the department ensuring compliance with applicable regulations; manage and provide monthly financial reports for state, grant, Foundation and service center accounts and recommend action as needed to Department Head and faculty; maintain salary distributions for department employees; assist with the preparation of annual operations budget; oversee and act as backup for vehicle fleet reporting and travel claims; investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities; and complete special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field may be accepted with two years of accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and ledgers.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Workday financials.
  • Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of laws, rules, or policies to specific situations.
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction regarding procurement, travel and other fiscal policies to unit heads, management, and staff.
