Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas invite applications for a 12-month, tenure-track assistant professor position in Agricultural Statistics.

The successful candidate will develop a nationally competitive and collaborative research program in agricultural statistics, biostatistics, or data analytics that meets the critical research needs of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station. Focus areas may include Bayesian Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Functional Data Analysis, Spatial Statistics, Design of Experiments, Generalized Mixed Models, Multivariate Analysis, Survival Analysis, Longitudinal Analysis, and Biostatistics, but not limited to the above.

The positions will contribute effectively to the center's teaching at the graduate level (possibly undergraduate honors level depending on the demand of the college). While actively teaching and consulting on data analysis within CADA, the successful candidate will be able to choose the tenure home among one of the nine Departments within the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to recruit and advise graduate students pursuing degrees in one of the majors of their home department or in programs such as STAN (Statistics and Analytics graduate program) and CEMB (Cell and Molecular Biology) offered across different colleges. Further expectations include supervising and co-supervising undergraduate and graduate research heavy on analytics and securing extramural funding from a variety of sources, including Federal, State commodity, private and industry sources.


Qualifications:

Requirements: A Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a similar field with an emphasis on data analysis is required. Interest in applied statistics and analytics, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills and computing skills, are required. Current students must have completed their degree prior to their starting date.

Salary and Benefits: Salary compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track position with a competitive benefits package, including a nationally competitive matching retirement program. The position will have its tenure home through one of the nine Academic Departments making up the College.
