Summary of Job Duties:
The College of Medicine (COM), Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) welcomes applications from candidates who desire to be part of a dynamic and supportive team. In light of the expansion of the Department of Psychiatry/Psychiatric Research Institute's Behavioral Health Service Line, opportunities currently exist on both the flagship Little Rock UAMS campus and the UAMS campus in Northwest Arkansas. As part of our recruitment efforts, we would like to hire candidates for several full-time positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.
This opportunity is suitable for a dynamic individual with an enthusiastic passion for academic teaching and research, looking for a niche to develop professionally, and pursuing future leadership opportunities.
•Work closely with trainees (including medical students, residents, and fellows) to provide top-quality education and mentorship.
•Deliver outstanding clinical care for patients with a broad range of psychiatric conditions, across the state and region, in one or more of the following clinical programs:
o General adult outpatient Psychiatry
o Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (outpatient, consultation-liaison, eating disorders, or other specific interests welcome)
o Substance use disorders
o College mental health
o Integrated Behavioral Health
o Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
o Interventional Psychiatry
o Geriatric Psychiatry
o Telepsychiatry through AR ConnectNow (UAMS’ virtual mental health clinic)
•Contribute to the overall clinical, educational, and scholarly missions of the department and university
The ideal candidate will have the following professional qualifications and personal characteristics:
- M.D. or equivalent.
- ABPN-certified or eligible for certification in Psychiatry.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine or eligibility for licensure in Arkansas.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, educational experience, and scholarly focus in at least one of the specific clinical areas outlined under “The Opportunity - Responsibilities.”
- Eligibility for and subsequent success in obtaining malpractice insurance.
- Eligibility for and subsequent success in credentialing by UAMS or its affiliates are required.
