SUMMARY:

The Senior Accounting Administrator supports livestock accounting operations by ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining group-level records, processing payments, and supporting month-end close activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting day-to-day operational accounting functions.


Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing hands-on accounting and administrative support for livestock inventory and related financial transactions. The individual in this role will manage pig inventory activity, maintain accurate group records, allocate costs appropriately, process payments, and serve as a key point of contact for inventory-related questions and issue resolution.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Administrator is responsible for supporting the accuracy and integrity of livestock accounting records and related transactions. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage high-volume transactional activity, and a commitment to timely, accurate, and compliant accounting practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile pig movements and mortality to ensure accurate inventory balances.
  • Maintain pig inventory by group, open and close groups in accordance with operational and accounting requirements.
  • Process accounts payable transactions and payments, accurately allocating costs (e.g., pig purchases and supplies) to the appropriate groups.
  • Work in M-Tech to support accounting and operational processes, including processing feed and freight files accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support period-close activities through reconciliations, accrual support, and documentation.
  • Manage the inventory and pig movement email inbox, ensuring timely issue resolution and proper documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and provide audit and reporting support as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

To perform this role successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 + years’ experience in accounting, inventory management, or high-volume transactional processing preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
