POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides coverage on various machines when the primary operator is away from their station. It also assists with setup and breakdown of production lines and completes daily equipment checks to ensure proper function. The Machine Operator performs rework, cleaning duties, and operates machinery for the continuous and efficient production of high‑quality flour tortillas. All tasks must be performed safely and in compliance with Tyson policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT TRAINING REQUIRED.
- Prepare equipment for start‑up or shutdown.
- Stop machinery to make adjustments according to lockout/tagout policy.
- Maintain good manufacturing practices and proper personal hygiene.
- Keep the department clean and organized.
- Notify Supervisor and Quality Control of any contamination.
- Complete the Packout Operators Training Checklist (PR26.1) within the 10‑day trial period.

- Automated Bagger
- Loading bags
- Calibrating machines through basic adjustments
- Counter Stacker
- Program count
- Parts change (inner & outer trays)
- Basic calibration
- Product Conveyors
Basic calibration - Metal Detector Checks
- Other Duties / Quality Checks / Plant View
- Bag seals
- Package counts
- Packaging lot numbers
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure product meets customer specifications.
- Adhere to all safety policies and operate equipment safely.
- Must be able to enter data into Plant View.
- Monitor equipment and report wear or damage.
- Control machine speed based on product flow.
- Assist Lead with stocking line and monitoring box machine (where applicable).
- Ensure packages are sealed properly and seals are tight.
- Ensure printer is working and date coding is correct.
- Perform product changeovers as needed.
- Follow all company policies/procedures.
- Work as part of a team to achieve department goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must work rework duties.
- Must provide breaks to all pack‑out operators.
- Must clean when not giving operator breaks.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
- Requires wrist and hand flexibility; includes walking, bending, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must use a calculator for addition, subtraction, and averaging production information.
- Must accurately write production recordings and documentation in the Operator’s Log.
- Must read and understand the Operator’s Log, SOPs, and job‑related documentation.
- Must follow instructions, communicate effectively, solve problems, and have basic mechanical knowledge.
- Must be able to review and follow supervisor instructions.
