Summary

This position is primarily responsible for managing training programs for ISO and Laboratory Safety across Lab Services, as well as supporting the maintenance of the Quality System by delivering Quality and Safety new hire training. The role will implement and maintain Lab Services Quality & Safety Quizzes in LabWare LIMS and provide technical support to the technical departments using the system.

Additionally, this position will assist Lab Services Managers in implementing proper safety protocols and audits to support the OneTyson Lab Services Safety Program. Duties will be carried out using LIMS, the Lab Services SharePoint site, and various Tyson Foods, Inc. applications.

This position also serves as the Safety Officer for the Springdale Laboratory. Work activities will vary and will be coordinated across the entire Laboratory Services Network, often impacting a significant number of team members.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage Lab Services SharePoint Safety Libraries and SDS Coordinator Security Groups.
  • Serve as the LIMS Training Manager Coordinator.
  • Provide internal quality audit support for all FSLS laboratories.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting internal audits and management review meetings for the Tyson Food Safety and Research Laboratory.
  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of Quality System documents, including procedures, administrative work instructions, and technical work instructions.
  • Support the maintenance of a large-scale training program for Quality System Procedures for all Network team members.
  • Assist in maintaining a large-scale training program for LIMS for new users.
  • Help develop new training resources and create implementation and training tools for Safety, LIMS, and the Quality Management System.
  • Perform New Hire Safety and Quality Training.
  • Review and update safety documents as needed.
  • Assign and review monthly safety training topics and quizzes for all labs in the FSLS Network.
  • Perform and coordinate checks and records for all routine EHS checks.
  • Monitor and prepare hazardous waste storage containers for pickup and disposal.
  • Monitor, review, and update the SDS library as needed.
  • Coordinate Fire Force Team training.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: College degree (or equivalent experience) with 2+ years of progressive experience in the relevant field.

Experience and Expertise: Three to five years of laboratory and quality system experience. Excellent organizational skills are required. Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking skills are essential. Understanding of LIMS and its implementation within a laboratory environment is critical.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing, organization, and planning. Technical writing is a key function of this position.

Computer Skills: Standard to advanced computer skills, including the ability to generate technical letters, spreadsheets, and simple data queries. Working knowledge of LabWare LIMS and basic customization is preferred. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint site management is required.

Travel: Some travel is required (5–8 trips per year).

Training Programs: Training needs for this job classification have been assessed by the appropriate management team member and are listed in the LIMS Training Manager. The amount and level of training required depend on the responsibilities assigned to team members within this classification.

Managerial Duties: This position does not have direct reports but is expected to positively influence laboratory managers and staff outside of direct reporting relationships.
