SUMMARY:

The Associate Director Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) position is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet the highest standards of compliance for food safety and quality within Tyson Facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Plant FSQA managers to ensure FSQA policies and procedures are adhered to and to lend technical expertise when needed
  • Investigate product complaints to determine cause and help determine solutions and interface directly with the customer
  • Direct the continued development and implementation of new programs and/or procedures at individual plant locations
  • Interacting with appropriate governmental regulatory agencies such as USDA and FSIS.
  • Collaborate with appropriate departments within Tyson Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Research and Development, and Scheduling and internal/external customers on quality and food safety related issues
  • Update, develop and maintain corporate FSQA programs and procedures
  • FSQA training and development
  • Conduct plant audits reviews to provide overview of plant systems associated with regulatory food safety and product quality concerns; data review and analysis
  • Other responsibilities as they are assigned or as the need arises.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or science related field OR equivalent experience in food safety and quality assurance
  • Experience: 7 years of food safety quality assurance operations experience
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite, experience with ERP/SAP, product specification management, product develop applications
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Supervisory: Position will have direct reports at multiple locations
  • Travel: Extensive travel to the location in which this role supports. Minimum 12 trips per year.
