Job Summary:

The FSQA Specialist-Suppliers will be responsible for managing Tyson Foods approved supplier locations to ensure the established quality and food safety standards are being met per all relevant GFSI standards, USDA, FDA, and other regulatory guidelines established for food manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluation of suppliers in accordance with Tyson Foods FSQA requirements; ensuring supplier FSQA documentation within FoodLogiQ is accurate and meets defined standards; conducting food safety and quality audits for high-risk, high-impact, non-GFSI certified suppliers at supplier locations and verifying appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.

Analyzing and resolving food safety and/or quality supplier issues with sustainable corrective actions driven by the suppliers.

Collaboratively work with Tyson and co-manufacturing facilities as well as internal partners such as R&D and Procurement to manage the food safety and quality expectations for suppliers through the approval process and ongoing approval conformance.

Ensure proper and timely communication takes place within the organization for the defined supplier quality and food safety metrics and assess progress at the supplier locations.

Projects as assigned based on departmental goals per the continuous improvement of the system and ongoing initiatives to improve suppliers’ performance. Provides coordination and support of assignments within a department or groups.

Manage food fraud and food safety alerts for suppliers to understand the risk of fraud or food safety to the company; conduct supplier reach-out per database results on the analysis of ingredients and suppliers.

Collect and analyze data for supplier FSQA risk assessment.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in food science/related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in food safety and quality within a food manufacturing environment. HACCP and HARPC certifications are preferred. GFSI knowledge and auditing experience against GFSI standards required.

Computer Skills: Proficient in the following Microsoft products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Communication Skills: Good communication skills required, both written and verbal. Strong presentation skills required.

Special Skills: Good problem identification, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Travel: 5 or more domestic trips per year.
