Job Details:

This position is responsible for developing procurement programs and strategies for the HR category with a focus on balancing superior service to business clients with maximized value for the company of services purchased. Direct responsibilities of the function include: category & supplier management, strategic sourcing, contracting, and building relationships with key stakeholders; acting as positive challenger/influencer; applying procurement best-practices in order to achieve optimal balance of financial benefit and healthy, sustainable supplier relationships; working with Procurement peers to ensure support of and alignment to the supported function. The manager will be responsible for developing and maturing Tyson/Supplier relationships to insure targeted departmental and company objectives are met. Duties of the position will include frequent steering meetings to measure and discuss supplier performance relative to Tyson's performance expectation; developing Continuous Improvement strategies for the responsible categories and directing resources relating to project management; executing strategies that will develop the supplier-Tyson relationship, while continuously fostering this model to support proactive technology and innovation ideas that will ensure the competitiveness of Tyson in the marketplace. This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings. This will include a savings analysis compared to established goals and objectives for the category. This position will be responsible for monitoring commodity market activity and conditions to determine overall strategy to eliminate the cost impact to Tyson Foods. This position will require market forecasting for budgets and analyzing budget versus actual costs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or supply chain management preferred; Master's Degree a plus.

Experience: 5+ years of procurement experience in related field category focus areas as listed above, and familiarity with business and contract law as applied to supplier relationships required; Exposure to global sourcing is a plus.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; experience in spreadsheet, database and statistical analysis are necessary. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; formal presentations are required.

Special Skills: Strong negotiating skills; ability to multi-task, attention to detail, organized; exemplary customer service skills; judgment to handle confidential information and challenging business situations; ability to lead and influence others; effective and proven strategic planning, project management, problem solving, leadership and team building skills.
