Job Details:

This position is responsible for developing & executing purchasing programs and strategies for a wide-breadth of cross-functional areas which will maximize the value for the company of items purchased. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Commodity Purchasing and is in charge of the corn and feed grain procurement to Tyson feed mills. This position has five direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement logistics and supply chain security strategies
  • Procure high quality and competitively priced feed grains for our feed mills
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting for pricing and contracts of corn and feed grains
  • Feed mill and supply chain demand planning, manage the short term financial trading position for feed grains;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with major freight suppliers, brokers, and grain merchandising groups
  • Manage all aspects of commodity transportation including transloading operations
  • Negotiate rail and truck freight commitments and contracts with carriers

This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings and physical basis P&L on a monthly basis. This will include a savings analysis compared to established goals and objectives for the category. This position will be responsible for monitoring commodity market activity and conditions to determine overall strategy to eliminate the cost impact to Tyson Foods. This position will require market forecasting for budgets and analyzing budget versus actual costs.

Requirements

Education/Certifications: Bachelor s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this job including Finance, Ag Business, or Economics.

Experience: 5 plus years of related grain merchandising experience

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.

Supervisory: Yes

Travel: 5 to 6 trips per year
