SUMMARY: The Sr. Manager Procurement (Sourcing & Category Management) is responsible for developing strategic plans and executing sourcing activities for assigned categories with total spend of $7.5+ billion across the organization. This position will leverage their experience and knowledge to build comprehensive strategies at the category level and execute the sourcing process. This position will help drive program compliance through collaboration with the Supplier Management and Contract Management functions creating value for the entire Tyson enterprise. This position will drive sustainable strategies that will actively seek to reduce and/or control costs for raw materials, supplies and services while increasing efficiencies for the business. This position will work closely with the stakeholders in various Business Units, R&D, FSQA, Operations and Shared Service organizations to provide innovative new products and services to meet business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage high-level customer and supplier relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Develop category strategies and complete sourcing activities for a portfolio of categories.
- Monitor financial value achieved from the sourcing event comparing the baseline cost/spend to the new cost/spend of the awarded supply option.
- Work with Data Analytics to develop baseline spend for the sourcing project(s).
- Manage business needs at the sourcing project level in the following areas: Quality, Service, Cost, Cash, and Innovation.
- Deliver against performance goals for a portfolio of categories.
- Manage Supplier Relationships and support Supplier Business Reviews – High Level Escalation Point for Performance and Risk Issues.
- Manage sourcing project/event, including responding to supplier and stakeholder questions (e.g. category, supply, event, price, or specification), bid analysis and scoring, supplier presentations, etc.
- Work with Supplier Management in segmenting suppliers at category level.
- Develop and manage supplier base for specific categories.
- Lead discussions with suppliers around long-term objectives and strategies, ongoing market trends, innovation and technology advances.
- Support major supplier issues and work with stakeholders to identify and drive resolution.
- Develop category strategy based on data, insights and business requirements.
- Build strong business relationships to increase influence over total category spend.
- Identify and evaluate potential value generating projects based on complexity, resources, risk, time to implement, and estimated financial impact.
- Manage prioritized portfolio of projects for the category in the near and long term.
- Work closely with Contracting to execute and manage category contracts.
- Actively maintain strong understanding of category dynamics (current market, pricing, cost drivers, industry and supplier variables) through trade groups, publications, etc. and communicate changes to business stakeholders.
- Manage Total Cost of Ownership at the category level through collaboration with Data Analytics.
- Enable continuous process improvement and cost reduction.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with eProcurement Source-to-Pay tools is desirable.
Communication Skills: Must demonstrate strong verbal and written skills. Must be able to influence team and cross functional leaders. Must be able to engage/inform senior level management in procurement on a regular basis.
Special Skills: Experience in developing long-term business strategies and running complex sourcing events. Recognized as an established expert in respective field. Develops and executes strategy that aligns function with organizational goals and generates results that will have a positive impact on the function/business unit.
Supervisory: Demonstrate ability to influence without positional authority.
Travel: May require travel up to 6 or more domestic trips per year.
