Job Summary:
The Sr Analyst, Formulations at Tyson Foods plays a critical role in supporting the development and execution of meat product formulations across the enterprise. This role is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights and ensures that data-driven strategies are in sync with the broader strategic goals of the Formulations team and overall Tyson Foods enterprise. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a practical understanding of formulation systems to enable value-based raw material usage strategies and consistent product performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Stewardship and Reporting Excellence: Spearhead recurring reporting functions by compiling data from diverse sources, including forecasted and actualized prices, material demand, usage, and specifications, to drive the Least Cost Formulation (LCF) process. Maintain and refine master data attributes to support enhanced reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy. Lead regular reporting cycles and generate actionable insights through performance metrics, cost tracking, and variance analysis to drive value in the protein supply chain.
- Dashboard Ideation and Analysis: Create, maintain, and analyze dashboards that provide visibility into formulation performance, identifying trends and supporting cross-functional reporting needs. Analyze spend and material usage trends to uncover efficiency opportunities; contribute to ideation and solution development within the team. Leverage enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, formulation software) to execute daily tasks efficiently, support compliance, and manage formulation data. Conduct audits of databases and SAP to ensure compliance and enable the Least Cost Formulation (LCF) process to fully optimize formulas. Maintain and refine key master data attributes to ensure data integrity within formulation systems and support effective decision-making.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Drive performance and continuous improvement across the protein supply base of assigned business unit through data analysis and reporting. Partner with Procurement, R&D, Operations, and other teams to integrate technical data and ensure formulations meet both strategic and operational requirements. Takes initiative to identify issues independently, seeking guidance based on the degree of the issue before addressing them. Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights tailored to technical and non-technical audiences, supporting decision-making across business units.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or another science related field of study, or equivalent work experience, is required.
Work Experience:
3+ years of relevant and practical work experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree. Otherwise, 5+ years of relevant and practical work experience is required. Familiarity with supply chain dynamics and production processes with a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Special/Technical Skills:
Statistical Analysis and Problem-Solving: Skilled in statistical methods, interpreting complex data sets, and identifying areas for process improvement.
Database Management: Knowledgeable in database structures, management, and auditing processes.
Collaboration & Communication: Excellent verbal, analytical, and written communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners, such as Formulations team members, IT, and R&D Scientists.
PC Skills: Proficient in computer skills in reporting software such as Power BI, SAP or similar ERP systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel Skills including pivot tables and macros. Skilled in bridging the gap between human language and computer code.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required (up to 5%).
