Summary:

The Manager of Category Analytics and Insights – Innovation will play a critical role in identifying whitespace opportunities and building fact-based product forecasts to support innovation strategy. This role will own the end-to-end forecast development and in-market performance evaluation of innovation across Tyson’s Prepared portfolio, ensuring alignment across the Business Unit, Innovation Marketing, and Sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Category & Market Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis into category trends, competitive landscapes, consumer behavior, pricing dynamics, and product performance to uncover unmet needs and innovation opportunities.
  • Innovation Forecasting: Develop initial volume forecasts for new products using data from syndicated sources (e.g., Nielsen, Circana), consumer insights, pricing analysis, and distribution models. Partner with cross-functional teams to validate assumptions and adjust based on risk and opportunity scenarios.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the central point of contact between Category Strategy, Innovation Marketing, Business Units, and Sales to ensure consistent communication and alignment on innovation priorities, forecasts, and go-to-market plans.
  • Performance Tracking & Analysis: Track in-market innovation performance, including distribution, velocity, trial, and repeat. Provide actionable insights on what is working and diagnose gaps in performance due to pricing, placement, messaging, or execution.
  • Action-Oriented Recommendations: Deliver fact-based recommendations to improve innovation effectiveness, address underperformance, and capitalize on growth opportunities. Lead discussions that drive portfolio optimization and investment decisions.
  • Incrementality & Cannibalization Analysis: Use shipment, retail scan, and customer data to assess whether new products are adding incremental value to the category and brand or cannibalizing existing items. Translate findings into clear implications and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, Marketing, Business, or a related field required.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.

Industry-Specific Data: Strong knowledge of syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI/Circana, Luminate/Scentilla, Kroger’s 84.51).

Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights to a non-technical audience. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
