Summary: This position has two primary areas of responsibility: delivering price strategy and facilitating customer negotiations in conjunction with Tyson Foods' commercial chains team; and directly managing a team responsible for the administration and execution of customer-specific price lists, allowances, charges, and the publication of five price lists.
Specific duties related to commercial chains include:
- Basing decisions on a dashboard of fair market value indicators, including commercial team targets, commodity market conditions, inventory levels, equipment utilization, WIP availability, business unit strategy, competitive intelligence, and margin goals.
- Providing fair market value negotiating ranges for sales prior to customer interaction on deals worth less than $10 million per year based on the dashboard.
- Proposing FMV customer pricing on deals worth more than $10 million per year and then negotiating internal agreements between business units and sales at key customer negotiation points.
- Providing new pricing models to protect Tyson profitability and/or win new customer business.
- Leveraging the omni-channel price qualities of Red Label for growth.
- Managing customer contracts for the commercial sales team in CMS and Blacksmith with signing authority on any under 10 million pounds.
- Working with parts pricing specialists to ensure correct pricing targets and floors are loaded in the system so that we make fast decisions against the large volume of deals.
Specific duties related to team management include:
- The publication of price lists related to monthly Poultry, quarterly Poultry CVP, frozen commodity, and K-12.
- Staying up-to-date with customer technology needs in the transmission of EDI price records for Sysco and DOT and assisting with troubleshooting efforts.
- Communicating and resolving issues directly with our largest customers.
- Monitoring multiple pricing methods, e.g., formula priced, delivered priced, FOB plus freight, etc.
- Being mindful of the impact on other functions within Tyson Foods, for example, timing to receive price changes from revenue management, format changes requested from marketing, and effect on deductions and customer service departments.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field of study preferred.
Experience: 8 plus year in related field required. Experience in the poultry meat industry and general knowledge of the food service business are strongly preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required to include proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Outlook PowerPoint Word Excel and Access. Advanced spreadsheet skills are strongly preferred.
Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to present to all levels of the organization and external customers.
Special Skills: Must possess a demonstrated ability to interpret economic impact of supply-demand balances. Supervisory: This position will lead a team of professionals. Experience leading a team strongly preferred.
Travel: Occasional travel required.
