Job Description

As a member of the GFS Sales team, you will be responsible for working predominately with Food Service Distribution Sales and/or customers to sell a full range of Tyson poultry and prepared products. This position will be part of a dedicated Gordon Food Service (GFS) Sales Team. This involves identifying products that meet customer needs and working in conjunction with margin managers and other Tyson internal assets in sales R&D accounting customer development and customer service distribution to coordinate the entire Tyson asset package for the customer s benefit.

This position is responsible for the facilitation of all activities necessary to achieve sales and profit objectives for assigned categories within the Distribution sales channel, with specific accountability for Gordon Food Service divisions.

This position will also be responsible for working with the Business Units to execute pricing and margin strategies relative to the business units and sales channels objectives for Volume and EBIT. This position could have specific responsibilities for customers in the marketplace and will be responsible for presenting plans and initiatives to Business Units customers and sales teams

Other responsibilities include creating strategic plans for assigned Gordon Food Service divisions including contract renewals new business opportunities and annual volume and profit goals; developing quarterly sales presentations and annual and quarterly sales volume plans.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Serving as communication liaison between Business Units sales and customers;
  • Supporting new business or existing account penetration across assigned categories;
  • Understanding the competitive set and market place position of product offerings
  • Assisting Demand Planning with working with sales team and customers to improve forecast accuracy
  • Working with Sales Team Business Unit and customer to implement solutions and drive marketplace change process technology and other product related areas
  • Working with Sales Team to executive the overall business strategy; developing implementation timelines and communicating progress against milestones to sales customers and Business Units
  • Leading cross functional teams in implementation of initiatives to improve go-to-market strategies and processes
  • Directing Tyson resources through the implementation or manufacturing of a newly developed product or change to existing item.

This position will also be responsible for assisting the margin managers in SKU rationalization and communicating excess line time and or excess raw material to the sales team to plan best way to utilize and any other duties as needed. This position will be travel extensively to host regional and local food shows, as well as provide Training and product demonstrations to Customer Sales Teams and Operators.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5 plus years of experience. Industry and or product knowledge in product categories specification processing and competitive set; Food Service experience preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Special Skills: Understanding of the economics around protein markets as it would relate to pricing and volume opportunities.
  • Travel: 50%

Any listed amounts represent the base pay range. Additional compensation may be available for this position based on various factors such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses. Pay is just one part of Tyson’s total compensation package.
