SUMMARY: This position will be a key member of the Beef & Pork Engineering Team supporting all manufacturing facilities within the Beef & Pork Business Unit. The position works within a team environment as a Subject Matter Expert for Ammonia Refrigeration Systems and Mechanical Utility Systems, providing management, guidance, and support for capital project execution. The position will also work closely with Business Unit Management, Operations, and Project Management Teams to ensure all projects are successfully implemented while meeting safety and compliance standards, budget adherence, and timeline adherence. The primary function of this position is to provide professionally engineered solutions and high-level customer service.
This position will be expected to provide fully developed projects by performing a combination of in-house design and oversight/management of external engineering design firms, depending on the size of the project. Project development activities include feasibility studies to ensure projects are financially beneficial, cost estimations for design and construction, and development of overall project timeline and budget.
The ideal candidate will possess expert technical skills in ammonia refrigeration design and mechanical utility system design, a high level of business acumen with the ability to generate fact-based business cases, excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at any level inside and outside the organization, and a team-oriented mindset based on mentoring and sharing of information throughout the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and specify high level designs for refrigeration and mechanical systems utilized in Tyson Beef & Pork manufacturing facilities; provide guidance and oversite of external engineering design firms; develop large- and small-scale projects through feasibility studies, cost estimations, budget creation/forecasting, and timeline creation; set up projects and manage through internal programs (GATE Model, Anaplan, Pro Core, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SAP, etc.); successfully manage project execution by working with Operations, Procurement, Project Management, external suppliers and contractors; partner with Procurement to develop suppliers and identify new opportunities to create value for the Beef & Pork manufacturing facilities; partner with manufacturing facilities to provide all levels of support to ensure the overall success of the business.
Requirements:
Education: B.S. in Engineering or related field or equivalent engineering experience.
Experience: 1 plus years applicable engineering experience within the food industry preferred.
Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs (AutoCad), spreadsheets, database, and scheduling programs. Microsoft Projects exposure preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Special Requirements: Capable of working on multi-faceted medium sized projects while requiring limited supervision; demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget while achieving company objectives; knowledge Process Engineering disciplines, concepts, practices, and procedures.
Travel: Frequent travel is involved, up to 50%.
