We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team through our Swine Veterinary Internship program. This hands-on opportunity offers valuable experience and exposure to swine health management in a professional setting.
Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic veterinary student or recent graduate for a paid internship focused on commercial swine medicine. This internship will provide direct mentorship from experienced swine veterinarians and hands-on experience with a wide variety of swine health issues in a real-world setting. You will be involved in both routine health management and field activities, providing the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in swine veterinary care and population medicine. Depending on candidate desires and allotted time frame, there is a possibility to develop a scientific project worthy of submission for presentation at educational conferences such as AASV.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases in swine populations.
- Participate in farm visits, including health assessments, routine vaccinations, and disease investigations.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of diagnostic samples (e.g., blood, fecal, tissue samples).
- Support veterinarians in performing ante-mortem and postmortem examinations.
- Provide recommendations on herd management, biosecurity, and animal welfare practices.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and implement treatment plans and health protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist in the preparation of reports.
- Participate in ongoing research or educational projects related to swine health.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently accepted to a veterinary program with a focus on animal health or swine medicine with at least one semester of school remaining.
- Strong interest in swine medicine, animal health, and production systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow professionally.
- Previous experience in veterinary practices or animal husbandry is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to farm locations as needed.
Travel: Regional travel to farms in parts of Oklahoma and Western Ohio.
