Position Summary:

The Customer Development Manager for Value-Added Protein (RVAP) at Walmart is responsible for driving sales growth, managing customer relationships, and leading strategic initiatives specific to Walmart’s business. This role will focus on both Private brand and Tyson branded product lines, requiring deep expertise in forecasting, retail execution, and Walmart’s business model. The ideal candidate will have direct Walmart sales experience in a customer-facing role, with a proven track record in demand forecasting accuracy, trade management, and private brand management. This role demands strong cross-functional collaboration and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.

This position will work directly with the Senior CDM to align on strategic initiatives and execute business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key Walmart stakeholders to influence category strategies and drive mutual business growth.
  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute customer-specific business plans that align with Tyson Foods’ growth objectives and Walmart’s strategic priorities.
  • Forecasting & Demand Planning: Serve as the forecasting expert, with an emphasis on forecast accuracy, leveraging data-driven insights to create precise demand plans, manage supply chain expectations, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Private Brands Leadership: Drive the development and growth of Walmart’s private brands within the RVAP category, ensuring alignment with Tyson Foods’ capabilities and quality standards.
  • Trade Management: Lead trade planning and management, ensuring effective trade spend allocation, ROI analysis, and promotional execution to drive profitability and sales growth.
  • Customer-Focused Planning: Lead the development of customer-focused business plans, integrating insights from Walmart and Tyson to identify growth opportunities and address business challenges.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Marketing, Marketing Analytics, and Product Development teams to ensure seamless execution of customer plans and alignment with internal strategies.
  • Influence & Leadership: Effectively influence internal stakeholders (senior leadership, BU, SS&P, Etc.) and external stakeholders (Walmart Merchants, Replenishment Manager, PL Sourcing Manager, Product Development Manager) to drive business priorities and solutions.
  • Data Analytics & Insights: Utilize Walmart Scintilla and other data tools to generate actionable insights, identify growth opportunities, and track performance metrics.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting: Perform ad hoc data analysis and reporting to support strategic initiatives, uncover business insights, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage customer Blended Report, ensuring profitability through effective trade spend management, demand planning, and cost optimization strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field.
    • Minimum 5+ years of direct sales experience with Walmart in a customer-facing role. This includes direct interaction with Walmart Merchants, replenishment teams, and cross-functional partners, with a demonstrated ability to manage and grow complex retail accounts.
    • Proven expertise in demand forecasting with a focus on forecast accuracy, sales planning, and data analysis.
    • Demonstrated trade management experience, including trade spend planning, promotional ROI analysis, and execution.
    • Experience managing Private brands, preferably within the food or protein categories.
    • Demonstrated success in influencing cross-functional teams and external customer stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data tools (e.g., Walmart Scintilla, ProSpec, Retail Link).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with strong attention to detail.
