SUMMARY:
This position will lead a geographic region in Transportation Safety Compliance and Training, including Fleet Maintenance Facilities, to achieve regulatory compliance aligned with Tyson company policies and core values.
Please note: This position will reside in the Fort Worth/Denton, TX territory/region; Travel is required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure cross functional collaboration and alignment with various internal and external partners. Including, but not limited to; government agencies such as OSHA, DOT & FMCSA, including federal, state, and local laws for drivers, and managers. Tyson fleet operations and maintenance teams, systems, data analytics and technology support, field, and corporate transportation teams.
- Participating in compliance reviews from regulatory agencies. Maintaining industry leading compliance, safety, and accountability (CSA) metrics to ensure accurate reporting and best-in-class safety rating.
- Implementing strategies and training programs to improve safety performance, behaviors, and regulatory compliance to achieve defined action plans and goals.
- Communication and application of programs, processes, policies; and strategies to transportation operations management and drivers.
- Develops and leverages internal and external networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives.
- Monitor Fleet Maintenance Facilities FMCSA compliance, technician certifications, safety training, and OSHA injuries and reporting.
- Analyzing safety compliance audits results, CSA data, and dashboard outputs to identify trends, recognize areas of focus and determine level of compliance.
- Responding to injury and motor vehicle collisions scenes involving CMV and CMV drivers to assist law enforcement agencies and gather information that will aid in determining root cause and implementation of appropriate and effective countermeasures.
- Provides litigation support for Legal Department by providing deposition and trial testimony as needed, assisting outside counsel and accident reconstruction experts in investigations; and assisting internal and external legal counsel with discovery.
- Travel to facilities to collaborate with local leadership, identify exposures, and complete training events.
- Supports and improves Tyson Food’s public image by taking a leadership role at the state level in industry organizations and participating in and assisting in collaborative safety events with state and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Models the Tyson values and culture. Builds strong relationships and trust with internal and external team members and business partners. Creates discipline and focus around developing talent, building talent pipeline, and fostering environment that empowers team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Safety or related field preferred.
Experience: 5 years’ experience in FMCSA/DOT safety compliance or 7 years’ experience in FMCSA/DOT safety compliance preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: NATMI Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS), NSC Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Computer Skills: Navigate Dashboards using Power Apps and Excel based spreadsheets.
Communication Skills: Facilitate training, lead change management, interaction with state and federal agencies.
Special Skills: Knowledge Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Basic CMV maintenance, Motor vehicle laws.
Supervisory: Cross-functional support of fleet operations, facilities, and regulated CMV drivers.
Travel: 10-12 domestic trips per year.
