Job Purpose/Summary:
As the Director of Sustainability and Global Impact for a Business Unit at Tyson Foods, you will be provided the unique opportunity to align the BU's sustainability agenda to the Tyson Foods’ enterprise sustainability plan, “The Formula to Feed the Future.” This includes shaping and implementing key initiatives in partnership with one of the company’s most important customers. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in sustainability strategy development in the food and agricultural sector and ESG issues management including but not limited to climate and nature, packaging, human rights, DE&I and animal welfare. Responsibilities extend to key efforts around reporting, including on-going supplier requirements, mapping key material impacts and developing global solutions to key issues. Companies operating in the food and agriculture sector are at critical inflection point and this role supports Tyson Foods’ ambition to be one of the most sustainable food companies in the world.
You will work closely with colleagues around the globe working to fulfill our customers’ requirements for sustainable sourcing and operations. Your colleagues will be represented from the global corporate team leading sustainability, the business/operations/procurement teams of the BU and the leadership from various country operations which support the key customer on a day-to-day basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies for ESG priorities in partnership with our key QSR customer.
- Collaborate with Tyson and BU's leadership to identify and implement initiatives addressing both gaps and opportunities in the areas of ESG/sustainability.
- Organize and lead working groups within the BU that interface regularly with customer teams detailing and executing plans to on climate action and nature, animal welfare and human rights (including but not limited to DE&I).
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, such as sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure alignment on reporting of metrics and ensuring responsive approach to customer requests.
- Be a member on a team that values innovation, responsible business and collaboration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability or related subject.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 10 years of experience in a sustainability role, preferably in the food industry or a related sector.
- Deep experience working with sustainability concepts, especially in regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, deforestation, and human rights (including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights).
