Job Purpose/Summary:
This role will be responsible for supporting the Sanitation Center of Excellence for Tyson’s enterprise processing facilities in support of all Business Units. This role will be responsible for: (1) implementing best practices on sanitation processes and procedures, (2) improving these processes and procedures as advancements in the market occur, (3) ensuring all Tyson facilities are following these processes and procedures, (4) ensuring external sanitation suppliers, when utilized, are following these processes and procedures. This position will work closely with the Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) organization, Procurement organization, Business Unit operations.
Preference for this position is for the candidate to be based in the East Coast region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement sanitation best practices in support of a processing facility and incorporate into a policy to be used by all Tyson in-house sanitation teams and processing facilities.
- Implement this policy at Tyson facilities that are moving to in-house or have in-house sanitation services.
- Implement this policy with Procurement at external sanitation suppliers who service our processing facilities.
- Support the process, monitor, and track adherence to the policy for in-house sanitation teams and sanitation suppliers.
- Identify new best practices in sanitation from any company, assess, and if applicable, modify the existing policy for improvements. Deploy these changes within Tyson.
- Monitor and report on progress towards achieving functional goals/target metrics; proactively address performance gaps or issues potentially impacting success as needed
- Understand and manage Total Cost of Ownership for Plant Sanitation services with the objective to continually optimize to secure best value.
- Drive and deliver continuous process improvement.
- Work closely with FSQA and our processing facilities to mitigate food quality risk through the policy.
- Participate as a team member in executive-level Sanitation Supplier Relationships and support Supplier Business Reviews.
- Support senior-level FSQA management on any new developmental efforts.
- Work collaboratively with other functional areas as appropriate to add value for Tyson
This position requires flexibility and willingness to work a schedule that is 50% nights and evenings. This position requires unplanned travel to locations as business needs arise.
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 10+ years of experience in Food Production and Quality. Sanitation experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Experience in spreadsheet, database, and statistical analysis
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required; Strong presentation and negotiation skills are required
Special Skills: Experience in Food and Quality preferred. Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize, comprehend and assess data, complex issues, and industry information.
Strong ability to present complex topics in an effective and concise manner to broad-based audiences including various levels of management. Excellent customer service, problem solving and decision-making skills. Strong ability to identify, assess and mitigate risk. Effective and proven strategic planning ability. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously. Strong change management skills to promote a shared vision and inspires others to embrace new opportunities.
Supervisory: Demonstrated ability to influence without positional authority
Travel: Required; up to 50%
