Summary: This entry level Sales Marketing Associate is responsible for learning a wide variety of activities servicing the Commercial Division of Tyson Foods as a part of the Commercial Development Training Program. The position will work under an experienced supervisor and go through a rigorous 12-month training program with required travel to multiple sales regions. It is designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to build a successful career in business management and or professional sales. The areas of focus will include Foodservice Sales, Retail Sales, Sales Operations and Consumer Insights. This position will work with many of these areas through rotations and may require the Associate to work various shifts during the training phase in order to learn additional facets of the operations.
In addition to rotations the Sales and Marketing Associate will be required to attend various training programs around sales communication systems and other relevant areas. Examples of areas of focus are include Sales Operations, Sales Strategy and Planning, Revenue Management, Industrial, Military and Export Sales, Marketing, Category Management, Culinary Services, Business Development, Bakery, Specialty Foods, National Sales Accounts, Regional Sales Accounts, Retail Packaged Goods, Grocery, Deli Accounts, and Prepared Foods and Fresh Meats Business units. Some additional areas training could include food preparation sales negotiating skills working with R&D and communicating with brokers.
Essential Job Responsibilities: Daily activities may include reporting, investigating and resolving quality issues, checking stores for pricing and content of Tyson Products, comparing our prices to those of our competitors and working to acquire new accounts that will carry Tyson Products. Other duties may include setting up and promoting Tyson Brands at both public and independent store food shows, food service distribution, national account customer shows, and other general information of interest to the customer, analyzing customers menus providing insights to both the marketing commercial sales teams, ultimately the customers attend and prep for sales calls, internal meetings, customer meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor s degree or equivalent. Must have graduated from an accredited institution within last 4 years. Experience: 1 plus year of experience preferred or combination of experience and relevant education internships.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills: Ability to analyze data self-motivated self-starter driven thinking and problem solving skills priority setting and teamwork skills; creativity and innovation; ability to act assertively and take initiative. Desire to make a difference in both the business and culture; passionate to understand and represent the needs of our customers.

Travel: This position will include 15 or more trips per year.
