SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist responsible for sourcing Packaging and Ingredients materials at the best value while maintaining Tyson's standards of quality and reliability. This integral role involves planning, coordinating, negotiating, implementing, and tracking procurement initiatives. The Procurement Specialist will actively participate and support supplier relationship management, ensure suppliers are informed of policies and procedure requirements, engage in supplier cost savings and new product development initiatives, and provide ongoing evaluation of supplier performance through specific measurement tools such as scorecards. Collaboration with business units will be essential to develop purchasing programs and strategies that maximize the value for the company across various cross-functional areas. The Procurement Specialist will conduct research and analysis of assigned categories using internal analytical tools such as SAP, BOM, and CMLA. This position will also be responsible for investigating, planning, coordinating, and executing various sourcing projects, including RFPs, to achieve category cost savings.
Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining Category Management overviews, risk management assessments, business continuity plans, market driver assessments, and accompanying price mitigation plans. Effective communication of program initiatives, special changes, and consolidations to Tyson Foods facilities is crucial. The Procurement Specialist may also be assigned other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 2 plus years of professional experience required; purchasing experience is a plus.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in SAP system and Microsoft Office suite preferred. Ability to develop, create, and maintain advanced spreadsheets and databases preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

- Effective strategic planning, project management, prioritization, problem-solving, leadership, negotiation, critical thinking, influencing, and team-building skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and developed business acumen are mandatory.
- Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, stay organized, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Ability to handle confidential information and challenging business situations with judgment.
- Supervisory: Proven effective team-building and leadership skills. Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders is preferred.
- Travel: 1 - 5 domestic trips per year.
