POSITION SUMMARY

TheatreSquared seeks a Director of Development to lead and expand the philanthropic efforts of one of the nation's fastest-growing regional theatres. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Board of Directors, the Director of Development is a key member of the senior leadership team. This role is pivotal in cultivating a culture of philanthropy that supports TheatreSquared's mission and ensures its continued growth and success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy that aligns with TheatreSquared's mission and financial goals, including oversight and management of the development department’s budget.
  • Fundraising Initiatives: Oversee all aspects of fundraising, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, planned giving, donor appreciation and fundraising events.
  • Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government agencies to secure and increase support.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing development team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Collaborate Cross-Departmentally: Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute effective donor communications and collateral.
  • Board Engagement: Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Corporate Council to leverage their networks and support fundraising efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as a visible and active representative of TheatreSquared in the community, enhancing the organization's profile and fostering partnerships.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Ensure the integrity of donor data, oversee development reporting, and manage departmental budgets.
  • Strategic Innovation: Bring a creative, strategic, and flexible approach to fundraising to meet the changing needs and preferences of donors and potential donors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record in fundraising, with at least 5 years of experience in development roles within nonprofit organizations, preferably in the arts sector.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and managing comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in building and guiding development teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders—and the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and donor management systems.
  • A genuine passion for live, professional theatre and a commitment to TheatreSquared's mission.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
